Why we support local football clubs

Why we support local football clubs

Earlier this year, we went on the lookout for local football clubs we could partner with. Our search resulted in us sponsoring the historic Kidderminster Harriers Football Club and ten Kidderminster Lions grassroots teams.

Partnering with sports teams of course brings an element of commercial value to us as a business, but our reasons for supporting them are so much more than commercials.

Our reasons for supporting local grassroots football

There is of course our own love of football, as many of us have played in local grassroots clubs ourselves. We also have a Kidderminster Lions parent in our team, which is how the partnership first came about.

But more importantly, we see ourselves in these teams. Since we started trading in 2010, we’ve been constantly growing, and are now an almost 40-strong team that is dedicated to what we do: providing value worktops without compromising quality. In both the Harriers and the Lions, we see a huge ambition to grow and put hard work into a sport they are passionate about. What better way to give back than to support the enthusiasm and team spirit that is nurtured within grassroots sports?

Much of Purple Granite’s success was built by growing our business in the local area. While we do deliver worktops nationwide, the majority of our natural stone worktops still stays in the counties surrounding our two locations in Kidderminster and Worcester. Sponsoring local grassroots football gives us the opportunity to give back to the community that helped us grow.

What exactly do our sponsorships look like?

For the Kidderminster Lions, we have provided the kits for ten of their teams from U6s upwards. If you’ve ever played on a sports team, you know the kit is a big part of team mentality. Having experienced this ourselves growing up, we knew that our fundraising support was about more than just adding our branding to their shirts.

When it comes to our sponsorship of the Kidderminster Harriers, we wanted to go a little bigger. So, of course we jumped at the chance to sponsor the East Stand of the Aggborough Stadium, where the Harriers play their home games. It’s a childhood dream come true seeing our name on our local football ground and we couldn’t be more excited about how it turned out.

On top of that, we wanted to bring in our own expertise and offered to supply natural stone worktops for the newly launched Purple Bar. We also promoted the game with a fun competition. Fans could guess the minute of the first goal, with one lucky winner getting a £300 voucher towards a new worktop courtesy of yours truly.

Both The Purple Granite Stand and The Purple Bar were officially unveiled on Saturday 8th October. At the game v Farsley Celtic, we also invited the Kidderminster Lions to join us for a kick about during half time, to proudly show off their new kits.

We’re looking forward to supporting our teams in what we hope will be a successful season. If you’re a Kiddy fan yourself and spot one of our team at a game, make sure to say hello!
