What stone goes with my kitchen style?

One of the most common questions asked by our customers is, “what colour stone should I choose to suit my kitchen style?”
After all, the kitchen is an area of that home that we spend a lot of time in during the day. So it’s right we would want to get the look and design of the heart of the home one hundred percent right.
Most people have a style in mind when they walk into a showroom, or they at least know what they don’t want.
And while it may seem overwhelming, when you consider the sheer volume of different stones we manufacture here at Purple, most people can strip it back to a few choices when considering the overall look and feel of their dream kitchen.
And we are here to help you make that decision.
One of the most popular styles of 2020 for us has been the ‘Industrial’ look. Cabinetry in dark grey or navy, stark lighting and exposed structures such as brickwork or pipes are a key feature for the trend.
Feature worktops in a concrete style work extremely well for this style, combining the harshness of a single colour worktop with the more eclectic arrangement of cabinets, appliances, and other features.
Stones such as Unistone’s Concreto look fabulous when next to dark floors or wooden features, whereas something like BQS’s Bianco Fontana can be a more subtle alternative to still capture the essence of the trend.
Minimalist style has also grown in popularity in recent years with many people favouring neutral tones and clean lines. What’s great about this style is that almost anything works.
Everything from a marble-effect Quartz such as Carrara Flowery, Neolith’s Iron Corten or Granite, such as Blue Pearl, which features shimmery glimpses of blue, and can make a beautiful, yet unusual finish.
The Country/Rustic style is more suited to a more classic, farmhouse home, with warmer colours and wooden flooring complementing the room as a whole.
For this trend, many people opt for a lighter coloured worktop, sometimes with a ‘busy’ pattern stone such as Colonial White or Bordeaux granite.
The details and colours in the stone can be drawn upon to take inspiration for cupboards or other features to tie the kitchen’s theme together effortlessly.
For new builds, a Scandinavian-inspired style, with its neutral warm tones and clean lines, can be a perfect option; creating just enough of a homely feel, while maintaining all the class and sophistication of a modern kitchen.
White is a feature colour in this trend, with worktops such as Carrara and Premium’s Super White reflecting all the natural light available to blend the wood, flooring and appliances together with the room as a whole.
With so many trends and styles available, at Purple, our aim is to find your perfect stone regardless of the style and theme of your home.
